Green Hive is a green coworking space aims to establish a sustainable, eco-friendly workspace that not only supports the needs of entrepreneurs, freelancers, businesses, and youth but also promotes environmental responsibility and community engagement. This project created a workspace that reduces its carbon footprint through the use of renewable energy sources in the start with planning and we are continously putting efforts to promote the renewable energy resources. The rules of the co-working space promotes the eco-friendly practices such as waste reduction, and water conservation, it contributes to environmental preservation while offering a comfortable and healthy working environment for the wider audience.

Coworking space will be designed with a focus on sustainability and well-being. This includes the usage of natural light, indoor plants, and green design features that not only improve air quality but also enhance the overall aesthetic of the workspace, making it more conducive to creativity and productivity. The building will utilize renewable energy technologies to power its operations, while energy-efficient heating, cooling, and lighting systems will further reduce the environmental impact throughout the time with the receipt of the additional funding.

Beyond its environmental goals, the green coworking space serves as a hub for collaboration and innovation within the community. It actively involves local residents and businesses, encouraging their participation in both the planning and ongoing activities of the space. By fostering partnerships with environmental groups, local governments, and social enterprises, the coworking space creates a vibrant community of like-minded individuals and organizations committed to sustainability and positive social impact.

This project also includes the promotion of eco-friendly practices among users. Regular workshops and events focused on sustainability were held to raise awareness and equip members with the knowledge and tools they need to reduce their own environmental impact. The space provided recycling facilities, water-saving measures, and guidelines to encourage responsible resource use. In addition, the space is designed to accommodate the evolving needs of its users, with flexible office arrangements, meeting rooms, and event spaces that can be adapted as necessary throughout the time.

During the usage of the green working space as “GreenHive”, we have reached over 400 people through workshops, training sessions, collaborations and engaging volunteers to implement activities in the work space for the wider community. During the implementation of the project, we had risk of community engagement. Sometimes, we had implemented workshops with lack of participation from the community while another times, there was higher numbers which overwhelmed our capacity. Another issue was the weather that reduced the participation from the local community during the implementation.

We want to buy and create more stuff though, the financial burdens prevent us to implement these activities. In the initial stage, we had a trouble to find space to implement the activities suitable within the financial constraints.  To create space, took more time than we have foreseen due to construction of the furnitures, materials and the stuff needed for the implementation.
